‘My Sister, the Serial Killer’ by Oyinkan Braithwaite — one to read

“As a reader, from the beginning of the story you’re almost complicit in the crimes with Korede. She whispers her sins into your ears like you’re reading her diary, and you can’t help but empathise with both the Serial Killer and her sister. Though, the empathy never made you doubt Korede’s accountability, as neither did she. The novel lets you feel this vulnerability by cleverly performing the many comedic and disheartening dynamics of familial obscurities, in a morbid flash that is this tale of murder.”
